The Office of the Vice-President, University Operations, recently entered a Canada-wide competition, sponsored by the Canadian Garden Council, Vesey’s Bulbs, Canada Post, Niagara Parks, Via Rail and a host of other Canadian associations and companies to win one of 150 ‘150th Celebration Gardens’ being distributed across Canada in celebration of Canada’s Sesquicentennial in 2017…and we were recently confirmed as one of the lucky recipients of 1000 red and white tulip bulbs! Leading by example at the University of Toronto
The University of Toronto has started the migration to a more space-efficient layout. Toronto’s facilities unit voluntarily moved out of private offices and into low-walled cubicles positioned around the perimeter of the floor to maximize the natural light on staff desks. Toronto also created a variety of formal, reservable rooms and non-reservable collaborative spaces for informal meetings and ad hoc discussions. Since staff spend less time in these rooms than at their desks, these spaces are positioned near the center of the floor away from windows. Read more on this EAB story!

October Cyber Security Awareness Campaign

For many years now, colleges and universities across North America have promoted the Cyber Security Awareness Month each October as part of a collaborative effort to ensure everyone has the resources they need to stay safe online. Information Technology Services has joined forces with I&ITS from UTSC and UTM this year to collaborate on a tri-campus wide campaign to help spread the message that Information Security Is Everyone's Responsibility!
