The University will begin its historic Landmark Project on the downtown campus beginning April 1, 2020
The Landmark Project is one of the most significant open-space projects at the University of Toronto in the past 100 years. We are set to transform the heart of our downtown campus into a greener and more accessible park-like setting, complete with sustainable features such as a major geothermal field under KCC that will save an estimated 15,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year. Three new pedestrian crossovers proposed for Queen’s Park
From The Varsity's Lauren Alexander, December 1, 2019 Students trying to cross Queen’s Park may be able to walk with more security as Toronto’s Transportation Services (TS) has proposed three new pedestrian crossovers at popular jaywalking spots. If the measures receive final approval on December 17 from City Council, construction is estimated to begin during the summer of 2021. Read more here.

October is Canada's Healthy Workplace Month. U of T’s proposed geoexchange project on Front Campus is one of urban Canada’s largest
A new sustainability project proposed under U of T’s Low Carbon Action Plan will make Front Campus the heart of a new geoexchange system. The King’s College Circle Geothermal Project is predicted to yield annual greenhouse gas reductions of 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent by the year 2024, which would make it the single-biggest contributor to U of T’s annual emission-reduction target of 44,567 tonnes. U of T accelerates emissions reduction efforts with new Low-Carbon Action Plan
The University of Toronto has unveiled an ambitious Low-Carbon Action Plan that will propel it towards its goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 37 per cent from 1990 levels by the year 2030 and put it on a path to becoming a “net-zero” institution. Read more here.
