4 OREP staff recognized with Simcoe Hall Vice-Presidential (SVP) Staff Awards!
Four OREP staff members have been honoured with a 2023 Simcoe Hall Vice-Presidential (SVP) Staff Award, which celebrates exemplary contributions by staff working within the Office of the President, the Division of the Vice-President & Provost, a Vice-Presidential Division, or the Office of the Governing Council. The 2023 OREP recipients are: Ryan Dow – assistant director, community liaison and support, Campus Safety Kiren Handa – executive director, institutional research and data governance, Institutional Research & Data Governance Anna Kulikov – senior manager, business improvement and strategic initiatives, Facilities & Services Brian Szuberwood – executive director, capital projects, University Planning, Design & Construction CONGRATULATIONS to our colleagues!
New facility accessibility design standard
Facilities & Services has launched a new tri-campus standard that will guide the accessible design of campus facilities. The standard was developed through a tri-campus technical working group following a community consultation process, and complies with accessibility requirements set out by the Ontario Building Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Design of Public Spaces Standards. The new standard was effective as of June 15, 2023, for all new construction, renovation, renewal, maintenance, and capital projects—including projects currently in early design stages. The IT@UofT Strategic Plan Annual Report (2021) was released on November 25, 2021. It highlights ITS’ work and achievements and our collaborative efforts with unit and divisional partners from September 2020 to August 2021. UofT News: Scott Mabury highlights U of T’s sustainability efforts at Toronto Region Board of Trade event
University of Toronto research in clean-tech and renewable energy will help organizations in the Toronto region and across Canada achieve net-zero emissions – while generating thousands of new jobs, says Scott Mabury, U of T’s vice-president, operations and real estate partnerships. At the same time, U of T’s own ambitious carbon-reduction plan will serve as a model for other universities and institutions, Mabury told members of the Toronto Region Board of Trade during a panel discussion last week. All aboard the GO-VAXX bus
This month Facilities & Services partnered with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Metrolinx to bring a GO-VAXX pop-up vaccine clinic to the University of Toronto’s St. George campus. Over the summer, U of T hosted a vaccine clinic in the Exam Centre that administered 55,964 doses, including pop-ups in community hot spots and nearly 1,600 members of Indigenous communities before wrapping up in September.
